Leviticus 19:12 (NKJV)

And you shall not swear by My name falsely, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the LORD.
Hearing the frequent use of taking the Lords name in vein comes to mind when I read this verse. I knew there was a verse that talked about this but just never saw it till tonight, and I wasn't even looking for it.

There are many ways to take the Lords name in vein....we all know the major ones but a sermon I heard at Christmas time comes to mind here...do you write "Happy X-mas"??? Look where the X is...cross out Christ from Christmas??? Not right...So never write X-mas......the sermon I heard was lots longer than this but the jist is...Christmas is Christs birhtday...so why cross out Christ.

Wow, I've never thought about it that way. I don't do it very often but I have done that. I'm glad you brought that up. Thanks.

More to me than most people think. The Lord is my shepard and I his sheep...we just all have different ways of showing that. That Christmas sermon is one that has stuck in my mind very prominently...probably the best sermon I have sat through...the pastor retired that night also....it was a wonderful Christmas Eve Mass.
